The massive jaws closed with terrific force on the baby's head and bore her to the ground, where the brute tore at the tiny form as if mad. Despite beatings showered on it and bullets fired into its body, it clung to its prey. At the eighth bullet the infuriated animal fell lifeless, but an iron bar was necessary to pry loose the cruel white teeth from their death grip."
