The most bizarre report of a pit bull attack - EVER!

Poor wiggle butt. I hope he recovered in time for the big fight.

The era, the locale, and the conventions of newspaper "humor" at that time suggest that Mrs. Parsons and her daughter may have been among the former slaves who settled nearby after emancipation. In other words, this commentary was probably not just obnoxious, but racist. It would be useful to have further information about the attack and the victim, but if this was a black family, probably the published record will be sparse.
